Bernard Van Eeghem
°1953 lives and works in Brussels
Bernard studied architecture in Ghent and art history in Brussels.
While growing up in Bruges, the annual Blood Procession has left an indelible impression. It fed his desire, not so much for the pure spectacle, but for the integration of various branches in arts. A desire to create the ideal of an Gesamtkunstwerk, alone or with few people.
Bernard Van Eeghem writes lyrics, designs posters and settings, acts, sings and performs, makes theater and exhibitions. He taught contemporary art for Amaranth, was a tutor at the Lemmens Institute of Leuven and is currently a visiting lecturer at RITS.
During the theatre festival 2010 in Brussels he was asked to be one of the judges.
In 2011, he was the mentor for four young artists at Theater aan zee (Ostend).
Bernard Van Eeghem worked on many and diverse productions to only recently become and work independent into the theater. For the last couple of years Bernard made some remarkable plays with Catherine Graindorge, Manah Depauw, Katja Dreyer, Dolores Bouckaert and Nele Vereecken .
Especially Nil Nisi Bene Rari Nantes with Catherine Graindorge had a unanimous endorsement.
How Do You Like My Landscape with Manah Depauw was a great success and was played throughout Europe in 2010 and for the last time on the festival Transversales in Mexico City.
A small book –which title is kept a secret- was written for Campo, Ghent and will be launched November 9th. In late november, early december, four new solo performances will be staged at the Monkey Festival of RITS.
