Ducks

In DUCKS, actress Nele Vereecken and performer Bernard Van Eeghem investigate the possibilities of a traditional theatre text. Two old men sit on a bench in a parc near the lake. They look at the ducks on the water. Then they start imagining how the duck society would be like. And in the meanwhile they talk to each other about human society and their own being.

The text consists of 14 variations which are considered by the author as musical variations. Vereecken and Van Eeghem want to model each variation into a different medium while still respecting the unity and inner construction of the piece. Of course there aren't 14 totally different artistic disciplines, the piece rather consists of related disciplines. Instead of setting up a fixed system, they start from the variation itself and investigate which medium guarantees the best expression for their content.
